Once upon a time being sent as a missionary meant selling all your belongings, raising enough money for a boat voyage (which may have taken months), and departing for the country you were going to. A missionary assignment was a lifetime commitment. Perhaps an occasional letter from home would find its way to you, but for months or years at a time a missionary was alone in the mission field doing their work.
It's incredible how missions has changed since this time! Not only are my parents able to travel back to the States every couple of years, but now I have the chance to come to Ecuador to participate in missions for 6 weeks. There are big advantages with the advances in travel and communication. And one of them is--I'm able to share with you some of the highlights of my trip to Ecuador this summer.
Here's my commitment to myself and to you, the reader:

Here's my commitment to myself and to you, the reader:
- I will plan on updating this blog every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Exceptions will be when I'm on community trips and when I don't have access to a computer.
- I will post pictures once in a while. (My mom wouldn't much approve if I didn't do this.)
- I will answer in my next post any questions you decide to ask me. (See the link above.) Hopefully this way I can get some feedback and answer some informative questions for you.
